Miguel comes from a rural area called Bicol. At a young age, his parents divorced, and he and his two siblings were scattered, each sent to live with different uncles. However, his uncles were also struggling financially, and young Miguel was subjected to hard physical labor and given only the scraps meant for pigs in terms of food and bedding. Unable to endure this, Miguel ran away and secretly climbed into a relative’s car visiting from Manila, making his way to the city. A concerned relative brought him to our Kaisa Home. The anger from past abuse and the trauma from hunger have haunted Miguel for a long time, but as his needs are gradually met, his old bad habits are slowly being improving.
